Anabaptists

By | October 9, 2008

I found this article on the website of a local Mennonite Church. It seems to me to be a good, interesting and well written introduction to the history of Anabaptists and the reformation. Anabaptists means re-baptizers, and comes from the fact that the Anabaptists held that a person had to choose to be a follower of Christ, it was not something that one was born into. This was in opposition to the normative idea held since the time that Christianity had become the official religion of the Roman Empire. When that event happened, a person basically became a Christian merely by living in a Roman land. Anyhow, you really ought to read the article. I respect the Anabaptists and think that the beliefs I hold are probably closer to theirs than any other denomination.
